Mr. Hawkins & Mrs. McCardle are in their second day of ESEA Conference in Austin, TX. They started the day yesterday with a room full of 3000 educators and administrators listening to the 2024 National Teacher of the Year. The 69 schools that were ESEA Distinguished schools were asked to stand and be recognized and received a catered breakfast with a big celebration. Here are a few pictures of the conference.

For tonight's basketball doubleheader we are designated as the away team, and therefore Ethan athletic passes will not be accepted.

Another exciting announcement from last night—huge congratulations to Marissa Storm for reaching her 1,000th point! What an incredible achievement—well deserved, Marissa!!

Last night we had a couple wonderful announcements. First one we want to congratulate Mrs. Roudabush on being one of the eight finalist for the Golden Owl Award. Agriculture educators play a crucial role within their communities by investing countless hours to prepare and empower students for successful careers in the industry. In recognition of their invaluable contributions and to offer additional resources for their programs, Nationwide introduced the Golden Owl Award in 2018. She will receive a plaque and $500 award. One finalist will then be chosen as the grand prize winner, earning the 2024-2025 Ag Educator of the Year title for South Dakota, along with the coveted Golden Owl Award trophy and an additional $3,000 to help fund future educational efforts. Whether or not Mrs. Roudabush is the finalist, we are beyond grateful and thrilled to have her in our school! Congratulations, Mrs. Roudabush—so well deserved!

Ethan-Parkston Track and XC participants and parents. Not quite a year ago, there was conversation about a possible dissolution of the Track and XC cooperative between the two schools. It was determined due to the timing of the question and the lack of opportunity of students and parents to weigh in on the matter appropriately that the cooperative would and is remaining in place for the 24-25 School year. To ensure that all voices are heard, we are conducting this survey to gather feedback from participants, parents, and the community regarding the track program.. It is anonymous and the survey is the exact same for both students and parents of each district. We are asking all with an interest in the program to participate in the survey. The survey will remain open until the end of February with the results being shared with school boards at the March school board meetings. We thank you for your time and participation.
