Parents, we have been contacted by a family to let us know that they have dealt with a case of head lice. This message is a reminder, that if a child in school is found to have head lice, our policy states that they will be sent home and may not return until they have been treated with the proper medication. The following link, https://doh.sd.gov/media/1zpc23za/head_lice_diseases_fact_sheet.pdf, is a document from the Department of Health that can guide you in recognizing the signs of head lice and how you can get rid of them if you do indeed find them in your household. If the link is not highlighted, you can copy it and paste it in your browser. Mr. Hawkins

Parents, with our school year off and running, we would like to remind you how important it is to get your students to school, regularly. The included graphic has just a small set of statistics that reminds us of the importance of being in the classroom. The SDHSAA is also airing an ad on the radio which reminds us that if a student misses 15 or more days of school in a year, their chances of not graduating increases significantly. We do understand that there will be times that students need to miss school, whether that is for appointments, illness, etc. If your child is going to be gone from school, please make sure you contact the school to let us know. Thank you! Mr. Hawkins

Ethan School would like to welcome Deputy Van Horn to our school!
Hello, I am Deputy Austin Van Horn with the Davison County Sheriff's Office. I have been in Law Enforcement for about 7.5 years.
I am the School Resource Officer for the Sheriff's Office, and will be working with both the Mt Vernon and Ethan schools. This position is a new position for the Sheriff's Office that we are excited to get up and going.
My primary duties will be to assist the school's in whatever capacity they need throughout the year. You may see me at morning drop off's, afternoon pickups, out at recess or at sporting events.
I believe that working with children is crucial in today's world, and making positive impacts on our youth. I am also a mentor with Big Friend Little Friend in Mitchell.
