Ethan School District 17-1

From July 1st to July 7th, 2024, no contact is allowed between student-athletes and their coaches. This period, known as moratorium week, prohibits any team or individual contact, private lessons, open gym sessions, or other interactions between coaches and student-athletes. During this week, school personnel are also restricted from accessing facilities, equipment, or resources at the school. Enjoy your Holiday week!

Earlier this year, Will Kreth applied for the POET Community Impact Grant for $4,000 to be able to obtain additional equipment for the science lab. Today he was awarded and received the grant!! Great job Will!!

Exciting News: Both gyms are now open! They look amazing, and we want to keep them in top shape. Please respect the facilities and avoid causing any damage. No weights on the gym floor unless they are on pads, and be careful not to scratch the floors. FREE - More OLD Jerseys have been surplus! Only one cheerleading outfit, many maroon and white basketball jerseys. Some gold jersey shorts available. If interested, please come to school and they will be in totes on the stage with the locker room items. Please claim by next Wednesday (6/26) as all items will be donated by then!

Effective tomorrow, June 11th, at 6 AM, BOTH gymnasiums will be CLOSED for maintenance. This includes the gyms, locker rooms, and weight room. Unfortunately, access to ALL these areas will be unavailable during this period. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will inform you as soon as they are reopened.

This summer, we're making every effort to prepare for the upcoming school year, which includes thoroughly cleaning rooms, lockers, and closets. To facilitate this, we ask that all students refrain from leaving any belongings in the locker rooms. Today, all items will be removed from the locker rooms and placed on the stage. Please check the stage for any of your belongings. We will inform you when you can return items to the locker rooms after the cleaning is completed. Unclaimed items at a later time will be donated. Update from Brookings at State Golf 1st day- Rylan Gerlach shot a 77 and sits 3 strokes back from the leader. Aiden Riggs shot a 92 and Bella Guthrie carded a 99. Big round left for tomorrow! Good luck to the three of them!!

The Ethan Parkston boys track and field team placed 6th as a team this weekend at the State Track Meet!!!!! Congratulations to everyone!!!! 2024 State Meet Place Winners- -James Deckert - Long Jump Champion! -Boys 4x400 Relay - 2nd place! Team Members - Kolter Kramer, Gage Hohn, Mark Deckert, Maddux Brissette Time - 3:26.46 **They improved their school record by over 4 seconds!!!!! -Boys 4x100 Relay - 3rd place! Team Members - Mark Deckert, James Deckert, Maddux Brissette, Connor Prunty *This group also improved their school record time during the prelims with a time of 43.44! -Boys 4x200 Relay - 3rd place! Ambush camp starts Tuesday, May 28 for all that registered! (Everyone got in unless you were contacted.) The other dates for the camp are: June 3, 17, 24, July 8, and 15. The boys and girls entering 1st-3rd grade is from 8:30-9:30, 4th-8th girls is 9:30-10:30, and 4th-8th boys is 10:30-11:30. This will be in the Ethan Main Gym, please come in blue gym doors! Thanks to all that registered and filled up our small town camp!

If you park in the Staff parking lot during the summer, please avoid parking too close to the grass on the north side. It makes mowing difficult!!!! We will let you know when student parking lot can be used, it is closed at this time. Thank you!!

Ethan Boys Basketball Open Gyms will begin on Monday, June 3rd from 6:00pm-8:00pm. They will continue on Mondays until the summer done. There will be a special open gym on Tuesday May 28th from 6pm-8pm to prepare for the team camp that week.

The Ethan Parkston Track and Field team broke FIVE school records yesterday !! Yes...FIVE! We finally had a beautiful day to compete. Congrats to the kids on their great performances! We also had several personal records and won both the boys' and girls' team titles! Parents, as of right now, I have one new driver that has committed for next school year. They will only be able to be full-time after the end of October. That means we are still in need of a part-time driver that can drive the afternoon route from the beginning of the school year until approximately November 1st. If we are unable to find that individual, we will not be offering bus transportation next school year. If you are interested at all in driving bus, please contact the school immediately. The Ethan School District will pay the cost of obtaining your certification. If we do not have another driver in place by July 15th, we will be making the decision to cancel our bus routes for the 2024-2025 school year. We certainly hope it does not come to that and will continue to try and obtain one more part-time driver. Mr. Hawkins
