February 16th - 20th is SD School Board Appreciation Week. February 15 is School Resource Officer Day and we are proud to celebrate someone who makes a difference in our building every single day, Deputy VanHorn. We are incredibly grateful for the way Deputy VanHorn shows up for our students and staff. He helps keep our school safe, builds genuine relationships with kids of all ages, and always takes the time to listen, encourage, and support. From classroom visits to lunchroom conversations and everything in between, he has become an important part of our school family. Thank you, Deputy VanHorn, for your commitment to our students, your steady presence, and the care you show our entire school community. We are lucky to have you!

Congratulations to Celia Henrickson and Brynlee Bainbridge for being selected to represent Ethan School at the Inaugural DWU 6th Grade Honor Band that took place on February 4th! Congratulations go out to Emily Gades, Alyssa Gades, Alaina Royston, Jersey Roskens, Abbe McClure, Ashley Hoffman, Aaliyah Lewis, and Kenley Kalnbach for achieving Superiors on their events at the High School Vocal contest on Wednesday as well!

Congratulations to Taziah Hawkins on making her 1000 career point! What an accomplishment!

February is delegated as CTE Month! Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month is a time to celebrate how hands-on learning helps students build real-world skills for college, careers, and life. CTE programs give students opportunities to explore career paths, use technology, and develop problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership skills. During CTE Month, we recognize the value of learning by doing and highlight how CTE helps prepare students for in-demand careers while connecting classroom learning to the real world. February 2nd through the 6th is National School Counseling Week. Please be sure to take the opportunity to say THANK YOU to our counselor, Kendra Erickson! Mrs. Erickson has done a phenomenal job in her first year in her new position with the school. Thank You Mrs. Erickson!!!!!!

Congrats to Truin Thomas, Jalen Thomas, Alyssa Gades, Emily Gades, and Konnor Wipf on being selected to represent Ethan in the 2nd Annual DWU High School Honor Band Event yesterday!

One seat on the school board will be opening up as the current term comes to an end. All elected positions are three-year terms.

Petitions can be picked up at the School Business Office during regular school hours. You may begin collecting signatures starting February 2, 2026. Completed petitions must be turned in to the Business Office no later than 5:00p.m. on March 24, 2026.

Parents, Community Members, and Area Business Partners: We are deeply grateful for the kindness, compassion, and support you have shown our school community during the recent loss of Mr. Harter. There are no words that can thank you enough for what you have all done. This has been a difficult time for our students, staff, and families, and your messages, gestures, and understanding have meant more than words can express. The care shown by our parents and area businesses has been a powerful reminder of how strong and connected our community truly is. Whether through words of encouragement, patience, or acts of generosity, your support has helped us navigate this moment with grace and unity. Thank you for standing with us and for continuing to support our students and staff as we honor Mr. Harter's memory and move forward together. With sincere appreciation, the Ethan School District.
