Parents,
With the month of February upon us, things are going to start to get exciting here at the school. Spring is getting closer, and the end of our regular season for winter sports is coming to a close. That means post season play for gymnastics, wrestling, and basketball will soon be here, and our student/athletes will be setting their goals for a chance at a state title. Selfishly, for me, February means that the College Baseball season is literally days away. Because of this, I will be taking several days off during the remainder of the school year to travel and watch the SDSU Baseball team.
This situation may cause some conflicts when it comes to bus transportation to school! I will try to have a substitute bus driver in place when I go, but understand, since we are short staffed in this area, it is possible that one will not be available. I will keep you updated each week when I intend to be out of the office.
The first dates that I want people to be aware of are March 6th and 7th. I will be out of the office, Mr. Gustafson will potentially be at the NAIA National Basketball tournament, and Mr. Myers may potentially be in Rapid City with our girls’ basketball team. If all those situations come together, which will be highly likely, there will be no bus transportation available those days. Again, I will keep everyone updated as soon as I can about the busing situation when I intend to be gone.
Looking even farther down the road, specifically the 2024-2025 school year, if we are not able to obtain another full-time or part-time bus driver, there is the possibility that we may not offer bus transportation at all. Even though I do enjoy driving one of our bus routes, it is taking me away from other parts of my job that I could and should be doing in a timelier manner. We still have time before we make that decision, and if we are still considering it at the end of this school year, I will send out much more information on how that would look moving forward. Rest assured that we will do everything we can to avoid that situation.
As always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me at the school.
Mr. Hawkins

Parents, I have been in contact with our maintenance director, and they will not be sending plows out today until the winds die down. That looks to be later this afternoon. We will run our buses where possible, mainly on paved roads. If you would like to meet the bus, please get in contact with your driver and they will make arrangements with you. If you are unable to get your student to school today, the absence will not count against them. Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause for you. Mr. Hawkins

Parents, we will have a 10 AM start tomorrow, Friday, January 19. Buses will run where possible. Mr. Hawkins.
